From the archives we're up to June 2006, and the early part of that month starts as usual with the Royal Cornwall Show at Wadebridge.

One of my best from the show I think is this one taken at a blacksmiths forge...

...it was a great show that year, but then it is every year.

And June 2006 produced what is in my opinion my best sunset image...

On June 22nd I went for a Summer Solstice walk on Bodmin Moor and met this young pony...

...but of course the main attraction was the rugged landscape...

A Cornwall magical sunset

On my journey through the archives I'm now up to March 2006. I've not taken any sunsets for ages, but back in 2006 they were one of my favourite subjects, and here is one from March 2006 which was one of my favourites...

On a walk along the Camel Trail near Wadebridge I came across this robin which seemed to like posing for photos...

On one of my visits to Bedruthan Steps on the North Cornwall coast I took this shot over Park Head to the Quies...

Many people know Cornwall for it's mild climate, beautiful sandy beaches, rugged coastline, mystical past, surfing etc. etc., but strange as it seems many are unfamiliar with it's beautiful mountains as seen in this photo...
Cornish mountains
The Cornish mountains, the Claytip Range, are home to Cornwalls Piskies, and as you can see from the photo even with our mild climate there is still snow on the upper slopes in March. You can read more about them here

Cornwall has beautiful beaches with excellent swimming, but now and then...
Stormy sea S13486
...we get some pretty dramatic stormy weather.

Back in the archives it's January 2006, start of a new year, and Newquay in January was looking pretty good...

...more like a summer scene but not warm enough to go in for a swim.

January 2006 also produced a pretty spectacular sunset...

...which included a sun pillar.

On a visit to Truro I took a few pics inside the cathedral...

On the Camel Trail in Cornwall...
Robin
...I came across this little robin which was happy to pose for me.

Back in the archives we're up to December 2005, and one of my favourite bird images...
Chaffinch_Z11485
...a chaffinch seen through my kitchen window, on the apple tree in my garden.

A golden sunrise makes a lovely backdrop for a silhouette of St. Columb church...

December brought another change in the weather, gone the snow from the end of November and we were back to early autumnal like days. This was taken in Newquay, showing Towan Beach and The Island...

Truro was decorated for Christmas, and here we are looking across a large marquee erected on the Piazza at Lemon Quay to the spires of Truro Cathedral...

The marquee was the home of Christmas markets with a good selection of Cornish crafts and products.

There's something about Cornwall.....
or more exactly the North Cornwall Coast where we get wonderful sunsets across the Atlantic ocean, like this one from November 2005...
Bedruthan Sunset_Z10510XL
...taken from the clifftops at Bedruthan Steps, one of my favourite spots for catching great sunsets.

I'm back in the archives again, looking through November 2005. Apart from great sunsets this month was also great for moonshots...

In fact most of the month was quite mild for the time of year and I had some nice days out including a trip to Truro where the late afternoon sun created a lovely golden look to the cathedral...

...and the sun warmed up a lovely Sunday afternoon in Padstow...
Padstow_Z10647
...but a sudden change in the last week of November 2005 brought some uncommon winter scenery to the Cornish countryside...

I went back to the Eden Project for the third time this month on Tuesday, and surprising how many new things you can pick up in just a few days. I'm really after one flower which I think is almost ready to bloom, so will head off down there again today. Meanwhile, here is another colourful flower, this time a dahlia from the Outdoor Biome...

...the weather is still mild and there were butterflies flitting about outside...

In the archives from July 2005 I found this image, sepia and spot colour which I was quite pleased with...

Not a lot going on in July, most of the photos I uploaded were from earlier months - trying to catch up as usual!

I've been to the Eden Project twice in the past week, and why not when you can get lovely subjects like this...

Even in October still plenty of colour about even outside the biomes...

Raiding the archives again and now up to June 2005, another busy month with the Royal Cornwall Show taking up a couple of days of my time. There's always so much to see there, and although it's basis is an agricultural show the Steam Fair is a great favourite with it's colourful rides...
RCS2005_4685L
...and then we have a lot of Cornish culture/heritage including Cornish Wrestling...

...and some cute animals of course...

I'm getting better - twice in one week! Okay, to start another of my recent photos which is quite popular, a macro of water droplets on a cobweb from a few days ago...
Natures Jewellery Z19840
This was taken with my old Konica Minolta Dimage Z3 which seems to do a lot better than my newer Sony A100 dSLR - guess I need a better lens on that one.

Now another dip into the archives, and this time from May 2005. May is always a busy month, the weather is warming and nature is brightening up the scenery, so plenty to photograph and I spend 2 weeks in the Lake District so come back with maybe 2 or 3 thousand shots! But the month starts with May Day, and for that I like to go to Padstow for the 'Obby 'Oss celebrations...
PadstowMayDay05_Z2946L
The crowds following the two 'Oss through the town are amazing, a real crush but a great atmosphere with the music, singing and dancing...

At the end of the month, after my return from the Lake District, I was busy uploading some of the photos I had taken...

of the lakes and tarns (above: Goosey Foot Tarn in Grizedale Forest) and the villages...
